Dogwood Hill Chesapeake Shores Book 12 (Audible Audio Edition) Sherryl Woods Christina Traister Brilliance Audio Books Reviews
I just finished reading the last book in the Chesapeake Shores series. As the saying goes "all's well that ends well", (and it does for all my "friends" in the series), but I'm sad to leave Chesapeake Shores and its families! Sherryl Woods has become one of my favorite authors and as soon as I get over of the sadness of finishing the series, I'll certainly read her other books.
Sherryl Woods never disappoints. I have read several of the Chesapeake Shores books and have liked them all. The characterizations are believable and enjoyable. Of course, it is always fun to see underdogs win--although we don't as yet know if the football team will prevail, but it looks good. Also the interactions of all the "family" members is intriguing. Trying to keep them all straight is a bit of a challenge, but I like the way tey are incorporated into each book and you don't completely lose track of them.
Following the O'Brien family is always a treat. The entire series of Chesapeake Shores is so very enjoyable and you definitely feel like you are part of the family. The varied personalities of the family work so well and being drawn into each of them is a great read. These are simple stories and cause no stress or fear, just plain pleasant and enjoyable and really bring forth family love and subtle humor. If you enjoy quick, happy reading, Dogwood Hill is the 12th book of the series which I highly recommend.
This is Sherryl's latest in the O'Brien series, and for those of us who love that family, it is a welcome addition to the saga. I am not going to belabor the plot here, because other reviewers have done so, and besides, it is utterly predictable. Troubled woman comes to Chesapeake Shores; meets equally troubled man; both have chips on their shoulders for different reasons; they are attracted to each other but scared by the attraction. The O'Briens meddle and scheme in their usual way. Nothing new here, nothing earth-shattering, but a good and fun read nevertheless!
What a wonderful, sweet book this is. It is the story of a young fellow searching for his father and of a young girl. They both had secrets they were keeping form each other which constantly caused ups and downs in their relationship. There is an adorable dog in this story which plays a big part in the story line. The ending was wonderful. I am looking forward to reading other books in this series. I highly recommend this book.
I love the Chesapeake Shores novels! This one, the story of Aidan, the new high school football coach, and Liz, pet rescuer and local pet shop owner, is no exception. Each of them has been keeping a serious, life changing secret, and also,or maybe because of, they each have serious trust issues. The O'Briens, the large, loving, meddling, founding family of Chesapeake Shores surrounds both of them with love, friendship and support as they work through their problems to embrace the love they have found for each other. I highly recommend! In fact, I think I'm going to reread the series!
This is an enjoyable read, especially if you are looking for a sweet story without too much depth. Woods always provides well-developed characters, but I found this particular story to be too predictable. The ending was a foregone conclusion.
I do appreciate seeing how the story unfolds, though, which is why I have it 4 stars instead of 3. I also appreciate that intimate details are left to the imagination.
